During her years in Ethiopia, Baukje met countless women with precisely that aura: strong, dignified, and warm. Not loud, but with a quiet strength you immediately feel.

These artworks are an ode to the powerful woman who is proud of who she is. With her eyes closed and head slightly tilted, she seems completely absorbed in the moment, as if feeling the sunlight on her skin and letting go of the world around her. but at the same time also that quiet, hopeful strength that characterised so many women in Ethiopia: a natural confidence in the future that touches you without a single word being said.

The power of a Piece of Art

We believe in a product that has minimal impact on our planet. That is why we want to burden the earth as little as possible with the artworks. The felt that we use is therefore made from recycled plastic bottles. Because the bottles are ground very finely, a soft but strong material (fibers) remains. You can still see the fibers because the works are not sprayed or painted. This keeps the appearance au naturel and you get an original look & feel and it can also be fully reused after use.

Sustainable and recyclable
The material with which the works are made consists of recycled plastic bottles and no new raw materials need to be used for this. After its life as a work of art, it can even be recycled again and given a new purpose. In this way, the material remains usable for a very long time. It does not stop with just the material of a Piece of Art. We also find the way of packaging important. For example, we carefully check whether the materials we use consist of renewed materials, are partially or fully recyclable, so that the work of art has a minimal impact on the earth or is amply compensated. Beautiful, isn't it?

Colorfast and wear resistant
During the production of the material, colour is added during the process. This allows the colours to penetrate deep into the fibres. This creates an evenly distributed colour that is the same everywhere. This means that no colour difference can occur in the event of wear. The material is also UV-stabilised, which means that it does not discolour quickly when exposed to direct sunlight.

Maintenance free
Because the works are made of recycled bottles and therefore consist of plastic, it does not attract mold, bacteria or vermin. Moisture is not good for the product and causes it to wear out faster. Flame retardant
The material has a B1 certificate for fire safety. This is a certificate that is used as a standard in Europe. This means you do not have to worry about fire safety. This also makes it suitable for use in public spaces.

No harmful substances
A big advantage is the high cuddliness of the works. You can pet or cuddle them without any problems. This is possible because the material does not emit any harmful particles. Too much petting or cuddling can cause the work to get dirty, so keep this in mind ;).

To colour

Are you unsure about the color or color combination? Below we have briefly described the colors so that you can make the right choice!

Ivory
Ivory is a soft, white colour that is best compared to off-white. This colour is easy to combine with other colours and, due to its light and neutral appearance, looks good in interiors with light elements. Think of interior styles: Scandinavian, minimalist, Japandi, bohemian (rattan), Mediterranean, but also shabby chic, rural and romantic. Do you want a light addition to your interior? Then you are completely right with your Piece of Art in the colour Ivory. In terms of combinations, it works well with the colour Earthy Beige, but in combination with a black frame you get a tough look that beautifully outlines the work.

Earthy Beige
Earthy Beige is a sand color with a soft, warm and accessible look. It carries the undertones yellow, white and brown. This color will give your space a neutral and calm touch. This color is easy to mix with other similar colors, both with light colors and with dark colors. Also think of ton-sur-ton (tone-on-tone), for which this color and this art lend themselves very well! Your Piece of Art in the color Earthy Beige will quickly fit into many interiors, but if you were to include interior styles, this color would look perfect in a minimalist, Japandi, wabi sabi, oriental, bohemian, botanical and Scandinavian interior. In the Pieces of Art collection, Earthy Beige is the most used color and is often combined with the color Ivory as a work of art.

Beige
The color Beige is a soft, neutral and accessible color. The color can easily be combined with other colors, such as brown and white. The color is lighter than Earthy Beige and can be combined as artwork with the color Walnut and the color Deep Black. With these two colors you combine earth tones in an artwork, which looks good in a Japandi interior. But also in a minimalist, wabi sabi, oriental, bohemian, botanical and Scandinavian interior.

Walnut
The colour Walnut is a warm brown colour that is very similar to walnut wood and is used as a frame. Walnut has various colours as a base, including red, green and blue. The colour goes well with the colours Ivory and Beige. Combined with these colours it creates a calm whole in which the warm colour gives the artwork all the attention. Walnut can be used well in a Japandi interior, but also feels good in a botanical, vintage, cool Scandinavian, cool minimalist, bohemian, retro and industrial interior.

Deep Black
As the name suggests, this tough colour is black. Combined with lighter colours, you can make it a bit calmer or add accents. With a black frame around the artwork, you frame the work, making it stand out more. Interior styles in which the colour deep black blends beautifully are, for example: botanical, vintage, tough Scandinavian, tough minimalistic, bohemian, retro and industrial.

P o p o f c o l o r
The colours from the pop of colour line are real eye-catchers and vary from bright (Sunny Yellow, Pure Green and Carrot Orange to the beautiful and soft colour Cherry Pink. In addition to these colours there are Ocean Blue and Forest Green. These colours are deep blue and deep green and give the artwork a subtle class and give the artwork a generous appearance.

All works are made with care after ordering. The delivery time of the works is 3-4 weeks after the order is placed. As soon as the work is ready to ship, you will receive a message from us when you can expect it.

Pieces of Art artworks are handmade and are assembled per order. If you are not satisfied, you can return the artworks. The costs for returning are €50. You can submit your return notification up to 14 days after receiving your order. You will then receive further instructions from us for handling your return. After receiving the return, you will receive a message within 2-3 days and we will refund the purchase amount to your account.

Ja. Als je niet tevreden bent, kun je binnen 14 dagen na ontvangst een retour aanmelden. Zodra we de retourzending hebben ontvangen, krijg je binnen 2-3 werkdagen een bevestiging en wordt het aankoopbedrag teruggestort op je rekening.
